Job description
Sheridan College is seeking an experienced and dynamic part-time faculty member to teach Interaction Design: Media, Motion, and the Body (DESN22848) in the Bachelor of Interaction Design program. This course explores the intersection of physical computing, media, time, and motion, and its applications in interaction design.Course Overview:Students in this course will learn how to leverage computational media, sensors, and physical computing to solve interaction design challenges. The course combines lectures, discussions, hands-on studio projects, and critical feedback to develop students’ computational literacy and ability to integrate digital and physical spaces in design projects.Key Learning Outcomes:
- Solve interaction design problems using physical and digital tools.
- Write and modify computer scripts for interactive design.
- Analyze design opportunities with physical computing elements.
- Integrate sound, motion, and data in interaction design projects.
- Apply appropriate health and safety protocols in a maker space.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering lectures, leading in-class discussions, and guiding hands-on studio work;
- Evaluating student projects and providing ongoing feedback;
- Fostering a collaborative learning environment;
- Adhere to Sheridan’s academic policies, including deadlines for assignments and respectful behavior;
- Attending periodic faculty meetings.

- A Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Media Arts, or a related field;
- Industry experience in physical computing, 3D design, and interaction design;
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Arduino, Processing, p5.js);
- Demonstrated ability to integrate physical and digital spaces in design solutions;
- Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is an asset.
