POSITION

Program Assistant (Bike Engagement Intern)

CONTEXT

The mission of MOOS is to create a culture of sustainability at McGill. MOOS aims to identify, connect, and enhance efforts to incorporate principles of sustainability (ecological, social, and economic) into research, education, connectivity, operations, and governance & administration at McGill. We provide the institutional memory and knowledge, the network of partnerships, the framework for sustainability at McGill (Climate & Sustainability Strategy), and the seed funding (Sustainability Projects Fund) to facilitate the sustainability efforts of students, faculty, and staff.

DUTIES

• Conduct in person and virtual outreach to educate the McGill community about benefits of and best practices in biking
• Help coordinate activities for engaging people from many backgrounds in learning bike safety and confidence
• Collaborate to create and promote best practices for bike education materials and methods
• Help create online content related to bike education & outreach
• Assist with data collection on biking habits

QUALIFICATIONS

• Reliable, with strong organization and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Demonstrated experience with engagement and outreach
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and rapport with colleagues, students, and faculty

ASSETS

• Experience with data collection and/or analysis
• Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and groups (including biking-related) at McGill
• Experience with or interest in biking on and around campus
