Job Title: Staff Project Controls SpecialistJob DescriptionThe Staff Project Controls Specialist will lead the project controls processes with the internal project management team to execute project deliverables within budget and schedule.Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain external and internal cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts.
  • Manage schedule management, earned value management, and cost management.
  • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction planning, scheduling, logistics, and cost control.
  • Analyze project controls reports, present findings, and provide recommendations to the project controls team.
  • Ensure project set-up in the Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
  • Analyze data, review logs, and run reports in the Enterprise Planning & Controls software or other tools.
  • Set up Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Ensure budget tracking against Purchase Orders or Subcontracts.
  • Manage the internal Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
  • Review upstream (prime contract) and downstream (PO & subcontract) change orders.
  • Report accurate updates to cost reports or forecasts.
  • Develop and present cash flow reports.
  • Develop Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 schedules.
  • Create schedules and diagrams in Microsoft Visio.
  • Ensure the entry of logic ties within the schedules.
  • Create various schedule reports and determine the appropriate reporting format.
  • Consult with the project controls team on schedule progress.
  • Monitor resource loading of a schedule.
  • Develop and present earned value tracking documents.
  • Analyze and report on data from Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Develop pre-programmed project scheduling reports in P6 and review and analyze backup documentation for accuracy.
  • Manage integrated data from one program to another.
  • Ensure quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
  • Serve as a point of contact for technical questions from APMs, PMs, Lead Engineers, or Construction staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Primavera, cost analysis, and project controls.
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing P6 for scheduling or using cost software for cost analysis.
  • Experience in Construction (Power, Utilities, Infrastructure, Transportation, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, ICI, etc.).
  • Experience managing multiple projects from conception to completion.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Additional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Cost experience with Earned Value Management experience.
  • Experience performing site visits.

Work EnvironmentBusiness casual office environment in downtown Toronto near Adelaide St/Yonge St. You will spend most time in the office, in meetings with the client, and site visits as required for projects in Ontario (5-10% of the time will be site visits). The office is an exciting atmosphere with a lot of collaboration. The role is hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home (typically Tues-Thurs are in-office days). The shift is 40 hours per week (8-hour days with some flexibility on start/finish times, lunch is unpaid).
