If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.The Project Coordinator assists with overall project performance and status from start to finish and in accordance with schedule, specifications and budget. They manage cost, schedule, safety, and quality, and keep the Project Manager well-informed of progress, discrepancies, questions, and any impacts on project plan and schedule.Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders including Black & McDonald team members, clients, consultants, joint venture partners, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community, while keeping them informed of relevant information
- Assist in planning and preparing schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established timelines
- Comply and ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable HSE legislation and company policies and procedures, contract requirements, and Black & McDonald policies and procedures
- Maintain departmental and network databases as required to ensure records are kept current and accurate.
- Participate in document control, archive project activities, deliverables, tools and findings for use in future projects.
- Assist the project team to ensure project objectives, schedule, budget, cash flow, policies, procedures, and performance standards are met in accordance with company policy and contract specifications
- Coordinate with the project team to plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and execute project(s) on time, within budget, and in accordance with corporate policy
- Assist in preparing contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Assists in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, estimate project changes and impacts
- Track, interpret, analyze, and report on project data

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSA Degree or Diploma in the following would be considered an asset:
- Red Seal Journeyman or Electrical Technologist Degree
- Project Management
- Construction Engineering Technology
- Construction Management
- Engineering
The following certifications/designations are considered an asset:
- PMP designation
- Gold Seal Certification
- Construction safety certification
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 2-3 years as an Electrical Project Coordinator or as an Civil Project Coordinator in the construction industry
- Project experience in utilities construction is considered an asset
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
- Contract management
- Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
- Blueprint reading
- Procurement
- Project design interpretation
- Financial statements – read and comprehend
- Established construction practices, procedures and techniques
- Applicable local and provincial labour codes
- Managing / leading union and non-union staff
- Business operations processes
- Organization and time management
- Previous experience working with ERP applications, i.e. JD Edwards (Oracle)
- Previous experience working with scheduling software’s
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project
- Willing and able to travel to sites around Calgary, and surrounding area
- Valid Driver’s License, with clean Abstract
Construction Safety Certifications including the following are considered assets.
- Ground Disturbance Certification
- First Aid
