Psychologist

Provision of psychological assessment and treatment as part of an interdisciplinary team focusing on chronic pain management strategies. The Psychologist’s role will include providing results of clinical assessments, conferencing patients and provision of treatment. Treatment will include individual psychotherapeutic techniques as well as development of group treatment strategies. Strategies include development of staff education and training in team based programs using educational, cognitive and behavioral strategies in the management of chronic pain as well as conducting group programs for this patient population. The Psychologist will also develop program based evaluation of service and integrated research projects. The Psychologist would also be expected to develop and / or assist with program and interdisciplinary program evaluation.Qualifications1. PhD or PsyD in Health and/or Clinical Psychology from an accredited university
2. Must be licensed to work with adults by The College of Psychologists of Ontario or under supervised practice
3. Recent experience working with adults from diverse medical populations including chronic pain populations. Background in a strong biopsychosocial perspective emphasizing the role of psychological stressors, health behaviors and biological pathways in the origin and course of chronic pain.
4. Current clinical training in psychological assessment, treatment, and diagnosis
5. Ability to work flexibly with interdisciplinary teams and experience in clinical training
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong computer skills
7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning
8. Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and problem solve effectively
9. Demonstrated ability to provide education to health care providers, students, and community
10. Familiarity with Healthcare Consent Act, and related Privacy Legislation
11. Eligible for appointment at McMaster University in the DeGroote School of Medicine or the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences
12. Excellent leadership skills
13. Relevant Adult chronic pain experience
14. Ability to take a leadership role in didactic and experiential training in research and / or outcome assessment.
