Security Department

The Physical Security Department at Vantage Data Centers is a critical pillar of Vantage’s operations. We are responsible for safeguarding people, property, and data across all campuses by implementing and managing robust physical security programs. Our team oversees the performance of contracted security personnel, ensures compliance with corporate standards and local regulations, and partners closely with site operations and customer teams to deliver a secure and seamless experience. Vantage Security Department also participates in designing each of our new data center building’s security infrastructure to ensure Security operations and customer expectations are met based on the risk and contract requirements.

With a strong focus on operational execution, our department manages all aspects of day-to-day physical security, from access control and visitor management to incident response and audit readiness. We lead security vendor performance through contract oversight, QBRs, and KPI tracking to ensure service consistency across regions. We also collaborate globally to align policies, training programs, and standards across North America and beyond.

Position Overview

This role is on-site in Montréal (Pointe-Claire), QC.

The Regional Manager, Physical Security, NA is responsible for leading and overseeing the physical security operations across all Canadian campuses. This role will manage a team of site-level security managers and oversee the performance of Vantage’s contracted security providers. The role ensures alignment with global physical security policy, North America regional specific Policies, Processes and procedures, customer expectations, and Canadian regulatory compliance. Collaboration with U.S. based Regional Managers is essential to maintain consistent standards across North America. This role will report to the Senior, Director, Physical Security Operations who is located in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of site-based Security Managers across all Canadian campuses.
    • Oversee the performance of Vantage’s contracted security providers, ensuring compliance with all SOW requirements.
    • Oversee regional performance, ensuring all security operations meet corporate and customer standards.
    • Conduct regular team check-ins, reviews, and set performance goals.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and customer focus.
    • Foster collaboration with cross-functional departments to strengthen security culture, promote operational cohesiveness, and ensure compliance.
    • Lead monthly physical security KPI reviews, driving team accountability to meet or exceed performance thresholds.
    • Primary point of contact and customer coordinator for all Canadian based campuses.
    • Champion a culture of growth by ensuring security managers and contract personnel complete all required training and development. Through regular audits and engagement, the Regional Manager reinforces that their growth is valued and essential to our security mission.
    • Onboard and provide orientation for new site security managers.
    • Other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by the Security leadership.
  • Operations Oversight
    • Responsible for the security and protection of all Canadian based properties, assets, and personnel.
    • Ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day physical security operations across all Canadian sites.
    • Guide teams in maintaining access control, visitor management, and incident response protocols.
    • Coordinate and lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to evaluate service delivery, contract performance, and customer satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with Physical Security Engineering to facilitate vendor service calls and preventative maintenance inspections.
    • Partner with Construction to oversee the security of new builds and special projects.
    • Partner with Vendor Management to ensure invoice accuracy and budget management.
    • Work with Site Operations to drive operational excellence by partnering on SLA compliance, break/fix maintenance, access requests, key management (and other), and customer satisfaction.
    • Will act as a subject matter expert for all Canadian security related matters.
    • Partner with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal, and Compliance to support investigations as appropriate.
  • Compliance & Auditing
    • Ensure compliance with Canadian security regulations, data privacy laws, and Vantage’s global security standards.
    • Champion the development of security site specific SOPs.
    • Coordinate internal and external audits, documenting findings and driving remediation plans.
    • Partner with Business Continuity to update and maintain emergency response and disaster recovery plans.
    • Conduct or delegate regular site audits to identify vulnerabilities and improvements.
    • Champion audit documentation by standardizing processes, training security managers and contract staff, and conducting regular drills. Maintain site-specific customer audit requirements and build schedules to ensure ongoing readiness and awareness.
  • Cross-Regional Alignment
    • Serve as the Canadian security representative in recurring syncs with East and West Coast U.S. counterparts.
    • Drive North American standardization efforts in policies, procedures, and vendor performance.
    • Collaborate on training programs, policy updates, and security systems integration.
    • Collaborate with other regional managers to drive department goals.
  • Customer Engagement
    • Represent the Physical Security team during customer visits, audits, and escalations.
    • Proactively address customer feedback and ensure high satisfaction with security operations.
    • Support the delivery of security components for customers onboarding and ongoing engagements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years in physical security leadership, including multi-site or regional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian security laws, privacy requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience managing outsourced security vendors, including contract reviews, SLAs, and QBRs.
  • Familiarity with Genetec, Traka, and physical security system platforms preferred (but not required to configure).
  • Proven experience in managing audits, compliance reviews, and operational reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English and French) is an asset.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills with internal teams and customers.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% (may increase during construction or project rollouts).
  • CPP, PSP, or relevant security certifications preferred but not required.

Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role, which involves interactions with counterparts in the same department, and stakeholders in the United States.
