We are currently seeking reporters for our newsroom.Please note that these are on-call positions and you may be required to work early morning, late evening, or weekend shifts.Your role:Do you have ambition, initiative, and a strong sense of teamwork? Are you passionate about current events, talented in investigative journalism, and eager to uncover issues that matter to your audience?You must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to identify impactful stories. You will be expected to cover daily news for our digital, radio, and television platforms. You understand the diversity of Toronto and the importance of representing all communities in our content.Key responsibilities:Propose original topics, conduct research, write and produce reports for digital, radio, and television programming that will engage and inform audiences, strengthen our community connections, and showcase a wide range of perspectives.Present information on air in various formats.Prepare and write scripts, transitions, and headlines.Regularly produce exclusive content based on investigative journalism.Condense large amounts of complex information while adhering to tight deadlines.Build and maintain working relationships with a wide range of sources and contacts.Your profile:Excellent knowledge of Toronto and Ontario-related issuesStrong general knowledge and awareness of current eventsKnowledge of the broadcasting industryAbility to identify, propose, and implement strong and original story ideasStrong editorial judgment, well-developed analytical and critical thinking skillsAbility to plan, organize, and coordinate daily work to meet tight deadlines; capable of working under pressureAbility to effectively communicate complex information to the general public across all platformsWillingness to embody and promote the values of a respectful culture focused on diversity and inclusionExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong teamwork spiritInitiative and resourcefulnessAbility to work both in a team and remotelyBilingualism (French/English) requiredValid driver’s license and driving record that meets CBC/Radio-Canada’s minimum insurance requirementsAbility to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and weekendsUniversity degree in journalism or equivalent, and at least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in a multiplatform newsroomAt Radio-Canada, we know that acquiring skills happens differently for everyone.
