This position involves contributing to a research project exploring elite performance mindsets across different high-performance fields, including medicine, classical music, and professional sports. The study explores how surgical residents, trainees, and other medical professionals strive for excellence and how their strategies compare to those used in other demanding professions. The Research Associate will take an active role in designing surveys, conducting literature reviews, and analyzing data. This role is ideal for a medical or health sciences student with an interest in surgical education, performance psychology, and professional excellence across disciplines.Duties & Responsibilities:Assist in designing, distributing, and analyzing surveys related to surgical performance.Conduct literature reviews on elite performance in high-stakes fields.Collect and organize quantitative and qualitative data for analysis.Support research meetings, including presentation of findings and preparation of reports.Contribute to manuscript preparation and potential conference presentations.Ensure compliance with ethical research standards and institutional guidelines.Qualifications:Must hold a Bachelor’s degree and has a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to the research project, or academic research experience may be deemed equivalent.Preferably a medical student or student in a related health sciences or research field.Prior research experience is an asset.Familiarity with performance psychology, surgical education, or elite training methodologies is beneficial.Other Qualifying Skills & Abilities:Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple research tasks.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R) or survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics) is an asset.Interest in surgical education, performance optimization, or interdisciplinary approaches to elite training.Before applying, please note that to work at McGill University, you must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.Hourly Salary: $29.21Hours per Week: 12 (Part time)Location: Medical SimulationSupervisor: ProfessorPosition Start Date: 2025-07-13Position End Date: 2025-08-22Deadline to Apply: 2025-07-24This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.McGill University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community.
