Job description
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will be responsible for contributing to the development and roll out of aspects of WLN projects and grant applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and rollout of WLN programs and activities. This includes tasks such as contributing to resource and information development for the WLN.
- Contribute to the creation of culturally safe and culturally appropriate spaces and activities that support Indigenous health research.
- Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings.
- Carry out any other duties within the scope of PI’s program of research as requested.
NoteDue to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person, on campus.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree completed or in progress, with 2 years of related experience in research project planning, and coordination of events and activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write for, and work with, diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to take initiative, act resourcefully, and think creatively.
Assets
- Lived experience and/or in-depth knowledge related to working in Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada.
- Two years experience working in an academic institution.
- Experience with communication systems, including email, listservs and website management.
- Experience with MS 365 and its suite of programs.
