Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.Job Description SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated research assistant to join the Glegg ‘Knowledge to Action’ Laboratory to support data analysis and knowledge mobilization tasks. The research assistant will be based at UBC Hospital Koerner Pavillion, UBC Vancouver campus. The Lab is also affiliated with the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute; work may also occur at this site. Hybrid work arrangements may be possible.Organizational StatusThe Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT) is an established research-led department at the University of British Columbia, with many of our faculty working as leaders in their fields. We offer MSc and PhD programs as part of our graduate research, and provide clinical entry-level training in Occupational Therapy.Work Performed

  • Attends and contributes to meetings related to the project.
  • Conducts data collection and entry to ensure data quality.
  • Performs analyses of results from assessments and interviews.
  • Assists in preparing, composing, editing, and proof-reads documents, such as reports, manuscripts, and scientific communications and preparation of posters/presentations.
  • Prepares plain-language summaries of research projects and their findings.
  • Prepares infographics to share research findings with the public.
  • Creates and supports social media posts on the research conducted by the Lab.
  • Supports content updates to the Lab’s website.
  • Contributes to qualitative data analysis (training provided).
  • Ensures full compliance with Tri-Council Policy Statement requirements and Research Ethics Board guidelines.

Consequence of Error/JudgementErrors in performance of the above-related duties could have a significant impact on the effectiveness, reputation, collaboration, and financial status of the research project. Inappropriate judgment could result in fundamental flaws in the research results, in funding shortfalls for research grants or contracts, and loss of future research partnerships.Supervision ReceivedReports directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Stephanie Glegg.Supervision GivenNo supervision of staff or trainees is associated with this position.Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of neurodevelopmental disability an asset.
  • Experience with patient-oriented/partnered research an asset.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and/or knowledge mobilization principles an asset.
