• Set up fluorescence imaging equipment for monitoring exocytosis.
• Design and carryout measurement of mucin nanoviscosity before and after release from cells.
• Quantify the effects of cAMP, kinase inhibitors and bicarbonate on mucin nanoviscosity.
• Visualize granule exocytosis and mucin swelling using TIRF microscopy.
• Compare mucin release by airway cells from control mice and from transgenic syntaxin 1A knockout mice.
• Analyze imaging data, statistical analysis, prepare draft manuscript
• Help with the preparation of a grant application for supplementary funding.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics or Biomedical Engineering
• Research experience in cell biophysics and epithelial secretion
• Expertise in nanoscale viscometry techniques
• Understanding of cystic fibrosis
