This position will involve developing innovative methods to assess and improve multimedia quality across various devices, including monitors, TVs, smartphones, and audio systems. The role addresses the challenges of emerging multimedia formats, such as Light Field and High Dynamic Range technologies, as well as optimizing compression, energy efficiency, and fidelity under diverse conditions.The Research Associate will leverage advanced processing techniques, integrating human perception models, signal processing, artificial intelligence, and other cutting-edge methodologies. Working closely with industry partners, these solutions aim to establish universal standards that empower engineers and designers to deliver outstanding multimedia experiences. This initiative strives to set a new benchmark for quality in multimedia technology, ensuring that every product not only meets but exceeds user expectations and contributes to the future of the field.Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Developing Objective Quality Metrics
- Developing new video compression techniques for HDR and Light Field video content
- Developing image/video and audio enhancement methods
- Supervising graduate students of the Digital Multimedia lab
- Working closely with industry partners
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctorate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering
- At least three years of postdoctoral training in a relevant discipline
- An excellent publication record, with multiple first-author and co-authored publications in relevant fields

This initial appointment is for a one-year term at 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week), with possibility of extension subject to work performance and available funding.
