Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Job Description:This position is part of a SSHRC-funded Partnership Grant to address sexual violence on university campuses across Canada and internationally under the supervision of Professor Shaheen Shariff.Qualifications Required (skills and abilities, education, language skills):The applicant should have a Doctoral degree in:PhD in education, sociology, psychology, gender/feminist studies, or a related field.At least 5 years of research experience at a university or post-secondary institution.Grant coordination, development, and submission (e.g., funding and ethics applications).Experience editing on team publication projects, and writing and publishing their own work in peer-reviewed academic journals, books, etc.Develop and implement original research projects within the field of sexual violence.Ability to conceptualize and mobilize new research projects with partners, co-investigators, and collaborators as opportunities arise.Knowledge of qualitative methods and qualitative analysis.Strong leadership, mentorship, and supervision abilities.Project management experience, and ability to coordinate with a principal investigator and project administrator on hiring research assistants and overseeing project milestones.Able to work collaboratively with a team of peers and high-profile academics and partners.Education/experience requirementsThe Research Associate will assist the iMPACTS team with their research projects and will provide mentorship to undergraduate and graduate student researchers. The Research Associate will:Support the iMPACTS team in knowledge mobilization, primarily through the development and maintenance of the website and social media feeds as backup.Give assistance to the research assistants and collaborate with them on their research projects, as needed.Work on editing publication projects for iMPACTS;Assist the Project Director, Dr. Shaheen Shariff, on other iMPACTS-related tasks, as needed.Additional qualifying skills and abilities:Experience with quantitative methods and quantitative analysis.Knowledge of Lime Survey, SPSS, NVIVO, and other similar software.Pedagogical experience, such as developing educational materials, teaching university-level courses, facilitating workshops, and mentoring students.Knowledge mobilization experience, such as conference presentations, op-eds, media interviews, community-based programs, etc.Experience working in educational settings and community organizations.Experience editing and publishing non-academic reportsAdvocacy work, especially related to supporting victims/survivors of sexual violence.Familiarity with Canadian law and policy (and university sexual violence policies), an asset.Fluency in French, an asset.Other information:-Contract start and end dates: February 10, 2025 – January 31, 2026-Status: Part-time, 10 hours per week-Immediate Supervisor: Professor Shaheen Shariff-Posting period: 5 working days-Hourly rate: $32.60This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.Hourly Salary: $32.60Hours per Week: 10 (Part time)Location: Education BuildingSupervisor: ProfessorPosition Start Date: 2025-02-10Position End Date: 2026-01-31Deadline to Apply: 2025-03-01This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.McGill University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community.
