Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).PRIMARY DUTIESThe Animal Behavior Characterization (ABC) Platform is a research-support platform based at McGill. The main function of this person is to manage this platform and the Animal Testing Facility (ATF) that belongs to the AECRP in the Duff Building. They will manage the ATF’s space, will act as a key resource person to advise and teach users on testing protocols, will participate in the development of new protocols, and will act as the AECRP’s liaison for external contract work. They will report to the AECRP Director for the latter and to the AECRP Manager for the first three. Specific tasks include:
- Day-to-Day Management (administrative, financial, and scientific) of this Platform under the direction of the AECRP Manager.
Perform on-site and off-site behavioral & pharmacological experiments with rodentsData management and statistical analysis,Produce synthetic reports
- Support the efforts of McGill members in advancing knowledge and developing skills by maintaining a technological and scientific watch on new developments in the field or related fields.
- Implementing a professional training program, including a catalog of SOPs, best practices, and certifications in animal behavior.
- Maintain oversight of the personnel who work in the ATF, ensuring that they have the proper qualifications and that they follow established protocols for working in this area.
- Implement/manage communication (e.g. ABC website) and site management (e.g. Lab Archives) technologies to run the Platform.
- In conjunction with the Director, develop an action plan to expand the Platform’s services to the university, for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.
- Assists with the logistics, organization and execution of Pain Centre activities (Pain Day, lectures, meetings) and participate in regular Pain Centre staff meetings.
- Participates in the preparation of material for reports or other documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, physiology or equivalent.Having the right skill set is the most important requirement for this position.
