The position will report to PI Jeanine Rhemtulla and will require in-person work based at the UBC Point Grey (Vanvouver) campus.The full time expected pay range for this position is $68,932/yearCountries around the world are make ambitious commitments to forest landscape restoration under the Bonn Challenge and UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. How these projects can contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation while minimizing adverse impacts on local communities is a critical question.The Research Associate will lead a project examining social safeguards in forest landscape restoration. The project will include: a review on how global guidance on ecosystem restoration conceptualizes and addresses social safeguards; interviewing practitioners of restoration to assess how safeguards are implemented in the field; writing of academic papers, policy briefs, and guidance on challenges and recommendations for improving safeguards in natural climate solutions. The Research Associate will also write grants to secure future project funding and mentor graduate students working on related projects.Preferred qualifications:
