Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:The Global Justice Lab (GJL), Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a one-year appointment at 60% time. The anticipated start date is April 21, 2025.GJL is seeking a Research Associate with experience and expertise in the field of law, criminal justice, and organizations or professions. They will play a leading role in the GJL and its research projects on policing and community safety, including primary research and secondary data analysis, data management, and research program planning; carrying out day-to-day operational management; working closely with the GJL Director to develop and support the infrastructure and participating members, students, and external partners of the GJL; coordinating events, workshops, and research projects; budgeting; developing and maintaining annual reporting; and coordinating recruitment and outreach for students, partners across sectors, research associates, visiting researchers and professionals, and colleagues. Other responsibilities will include: coordinating project activities; organizing fellowship programs; liaising with an advisory committee and other community partners in pursuing goals and priorities; and creating and editing project documents. They will be intrinsically involved in research projects where they contribute, by way of their expertise and experience, to the projects directed by the principal investigator, and must have the capacity to independently carry out research projects as needed.Applicants should apply online at the link below and include a covering letter, curriculum vitae and three reference names with their contact addresses and phone numbers. Direct experience working with the legal profession is also important.Skills – Project management, experience with quantitative research, academic article writing, report writing, data managent, and large research grants. Ability to provide operational and administrative support to a busy research lab as well as exercise good judgement, tact and decision-making skills is required.Additional skills required include, leadership and strong interpersonal skills to assist in the guidance and implementation of the research project that is comprised of a multi-disciplinary and international team of scholars.Closing Date: 04/02/2025, 11:59PM ET
