It is home to approximately 1400 undergraduate students and 130 graduate students. In addition to its four undergraduate degree programs, KSR also offers Masters degrees, a suite of graduate certificates, and a world-class PhD program.PositionThe employee will support Dr. Danielle Peers in designing, implementing, and mobilizing parts of their participatory and applied research program that focus on parasport, the Canadian national sport and recreation system, and ‘safe’ sport alternatives.Duties

  • Liaise with sport and recreation stakeholders to support meaningful research design.
  • Lead or support participant and partner recruitment.
  • Co-lead the creation of participant/partner collective agreements.
  • Lead data generation processes, like interviews, using scripts and tools that have been approved by the PI and ethics.
  • Co-create data generation and application activities.
  • Support the creation of pedagogical resources for the sector based on learnings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A research-based Master’s degree in Adapted Physical Activity, Sport Sociology, or other socio-cultural study of sport or recreation that uses inductive qualitative research methods.
  • At least one year of experience in participatory or community-based research.
  • Deep working knowledge of Canada’s sport or recreation sector, for example, through at least three years in leadership positions within the sector. Experience at both local and national levels considered a significant asset.
  • Lived experience participating within parasport or adaptive sport settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived experience of disability is considered a significant asset.
  • Training in trauma informed practices and experience engaging research through a robust trauma-informed foundation is also considered an asset.
