Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Research Engineer.About the team:The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve long term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.About the job:Conduct in-depth research on cutting-edge literature and participate in internal discussions.Identify and define emerging technology frontiers with strategic impact on Huawei’s future.Develop technology charters to strengthen competitiveness and readiness.Define research directions to advance knowledge and innovation.About the ideal candidate:Master’s or Ph.D. in computer science/engineering or related field.5+ years of experience with strong curiosity for technology.Skilled in analyzing research and generating new ideas.Broad and deep expertise in machine learning, foundational models, agentic AI, and AI systems.Driven, self-motivated, and passionate about innovation.
