This is a contract position, commencing Dec 2, 2024 (or as soon as possible) – August 31, 2025 (9 months) with a possibility to extend and/or transition into a permanent role.

This position requires a combination of regular office-hours and evening, weekend, and holiday coverage, for which the Residence Life Facilitator is provided a furnished, bachelor-style apartment in residence.

Through the duration of the initial contract, this role will have a live in requirement. Should there be an offer of extension, the live in guarantee/requirement may or may not be included as part of the new contract. We are assessing our current property lease in addition to our new building, and are unable to confirm if housing will be available after August 31, 2025.

What you’ll doReporting to the Manager, Student Housing Services, the Residence Life Facilitator is a live-in professional position that is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our housing community while also implementing a diverse array of programs and initiatives that promote students success. The Residence Life Facilitator oversees the day-to-day coordination of residence life and operations within Student Housing Services and provides supervision to support staff and to a team of student Residence Advisors who support this program.

The Residence Life Facilitator provides on-call support to the Residence community and regularly responds to escalated crises and emergencies on behalf of Student Housing Services. As such, this position requires a combination of regular office-hours, evening, weekend, and holiday coverage, for which the Residence Life Facilitator is provided a furnished, bachelor-style apartment in residence.

  • Contributes to student and operational success in CapU housing through the completion of work as described in the section below.
  • Initiates and maintains partnerships within the campus and community that support Student Housing Services and the Residence Life program.
  • Provides supervision to the support staff and the Residence student staff team and administers the recruitment, evaluation, discipline and grievance procedures in consultation with the Manager, Student Housing Services.
  • Assists the Manager, Student Housing Services, in the development and review of policies related to the operation of housing and residence life.
  • Provides 24/7 on-call coverage to the residence community, responding to emergencies related to facilities or persons. Maintains a 45 minute maximum incident response time and refrains from activities that may significantly impair judgment when on call. The Manager, Student Housing Services is available to provide coverage during periods of vacation or other types of short-term leave.
  • Provides logistical planning and support for residence events including move-in, move-out, orientation, and residence life programming.
  • What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as psychology, social work, business or education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in post-secondary student housing and residence life or directly related field with demonstrated work and training related to student development.
  • Formal training in mental wellness crisis response (ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, etc.) and/or extensive experience effectively responding to crises of this nature.

Days and Hours of WorkOur standard work week is Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. This position may include working evenings and weekends based on departmental needs.

Salary 

The typical salary range for this role falls between $65,915 – $87,887 per annum, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity, with future opportunities for performance-based pay and career progression.

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including a defined pension plan, employer paid benefit premiums, and more.
