Senior Manager, Reconciliation, Equity, Anti-Racism Diversity, & Inclusion (READI)

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE:

Reporting to the Vice President, People & Culture, the Senior Manager, Reconciliation, Equity, Anti-Racism, Diversity, & Inclusion (READI) will be responsible for elevating and supporting our continued efforts to foster and maintain a leading inclusive workplace based on all the key principles of Reconciliation, Equity, Anti-Racism, Diversity, & Inclusion (READI). In this role you will lead all READI activities and build an organization-wide strategy for READI. This requires broad collaboration with staff and demonstration of Save the Children’s values especially empathy, inclusion, courage and reciprocity to skillfully operationalize, communicate, track, report on and evaluate all initiatives, programs and events that advance READI plans while bringing all employees along on a shared journey of learning and action. As a respected subject matter expertise, this role delivers informed leadership and advice in the development and implementation of READI workplace and community initiatives and education. A key objective is to promote and demonstrate READI for employees and the community we serve with a special focus on anti-oppression/anti-racism (AOAR), gender equality, and reconciliation with the Indigenous community. This ongoing and meaningful work will also require intentionally and continually assessing how to shift power through decolonization practices and solutions in alignment with Save The Children Canada’s strategic plan and values.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Manage all workplace READI projects, programs, policy reviews and surveys and reports. Collaborate with key interested parties across the organization and in the community to develop, support and implement strategies to create a more inclusive and diverse organization. Coordinate efforts with partners to embed READI in all that we do.
• Lead internal initiatives that promote truth and reconciliation in the workplace, furthering our commitment to the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 calls to action. Lead decolonization activities with an understanding of the prevailing impacts on the Indigenous and Black communities and many other groups impacted by colonialism. Also, lead gender equality, and AOAR plans in alignment with our organization’s values and strategic goals.
• Provide subject matter expert guidance in READI and advise on situations involving human rights, accessibility, conflicting ideals on sensitive matters while respecting confidentiality. This will involve consulting on sensitive and confidential people matters and investigations.
• Research, design and facilitate training, knowledge sharing and dialogue throughout the organization to ensure that we are meeting and exceeding our READI objectives.
• Develop, present and maintain accurate READI data and dashboards to report progress on deliverables. Utilize data to inform the development of inclusive workplace programs and partnerships. Identifies successes, challenges, barriers, needs, and risks in reports.
• Utilize deep knowledge of community demographics and their needs, systemic challenges and strengths to apply an equity, diversity and inclusion lens to all work activities. This includes writing and reviewing organizational communications and providing leadership and assessment recommendations for decision-making processes and community program practices to continue fostering an engaged and inclusive organization.
• Work closely with People & Culture team members and leadership teams to implement initiatives related to inclusive talent processes, such as recruitment, engagement, learning, compensation and performance development of employees.
• Cultivate and nurture partnerships and attend community events linked to our community partners in consultation with the VP being mindful of us as an organization in these events. Act as an ambassador and proudly representing the organization when attending community events and forums. Participate in the development of best practices in community relations.
• Act as the Chair for any related READI committee and or employee resource groups. Respectfully fosters member engagement and provides operational leadership guidance to ensure the employee voices are represented and to maintain effective functioning to make a meaningful contribution to business objectives and values.
• May serve on as needed as a local liaison and resource in Canada for Save the Children’s International Safeguarding program for staff safeguarding. Uses knowledge of READI to deliver education and timely case management to protect children and adults from being harmed, abused, or placed at risk of harm by Save the Children programmes, staff, volunteers or other representatives.

Qualifications include (but are not limited to):

• 3 years of experience leading the diversity, equity, and inclusion function for the workplace including experience leading workplace investigations.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field such as business, social work, human resources, social justice, or psychology
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support inclusive facilitation and learning. Strong leadership skills, with a focus on storytelling, plan design and delivery, and influence. Demonstrated empathy and ability to think critically and problem-solve in sensitive and complex situations. Ability to also look beyond self to consider broad impacts.
• Analytical skills and experience with data reporting, visualization, dashboarding, and creation of presentations using MS Office tools including PowerPoint and Excel
• Experience with project management and workplace program development. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage expectations.
• Demonstrated experience, respect and comfort working with underrepresented groups, diverse communities and intersecting social identities.

 

WHAT WE OFFER 

This position salary range between $96,189.98 – $113,609.34 CAD depending on skills and experience. In addition to this, our employees will have the following package of additional benefits:
