We are looking for a SCM IT Category Advisor for a 6-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.Role Description
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, the SCM IT the Category Management Advisor is responsible for the end-to-end Category Management of the IT Professional Services portfolio. Activities include creation of the category strategy, executing strategic sourcing initiatives, commercial/contractual negotiation of vendor engagements and the drafting and review of Statements of Work. The position requires experience in leading complex sourcing events and negotiation of legal and commercial terms with IT vendors. This fast-paced position is ideal for a self-starter with strong Category Management knowledge and sourcing skills.Responsibilities
- Ensure company is conducting business with financially viable, technically qualified suppliers, who operate within their expertise and have a proven safety record
- Conduct the sourcing and contracting of external goods and services in an efficient, effective, and ethical manner that generates positive value for the organization
- Conduct spend analytics and suppliers analysis within the defined category portfolio
- Leverage spend data, business requirements, external market data, and other necessary information to develop category strategies and influence implementation
- Assess risk and support the development of enterprise category strategies in partnership with budget owners to achieve overall company objectives
- Lead and manage all aspects of sourcing initiatives including RFx activities, development of negotiation strategies and recommendations to award
- Develop negotiation plans and lead stakeholders through the negotiation process
- Review, interpret, analyze, and negotiate legal terms and conditions in all types of IT contracts
- Collaborate with cross functional teams ensuring approved buying channels are leveraged to maximize efficiencies within the supply chain and ensure the goods and/or services are available for business functions’ consumption
- Ensure all data, information, and records are created accurately and are appropriately maintained & safeguarded using approved repositories
- Ensure compliance to all applicable corporate policies, including the Supply Chain Management policy, as well as legal and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain a network of collaborative stakeholder relationships
- Lead post-award activities including effective contract performance & supplier relationship management in conjunction with the IT Vendor Management Office
Required Skills and Experience
- University or post-secondary degree in Business, SCM or relevant field of study
- 5 years of progressively responsible and related experience in a procurement environment (Category Management experience specific to Information Technology is preferred)
- Supply Chain Management Professional certification considered an asset
- Background in Oil and Gas industry to understand the nature of work within an integrated oil and gas company considered an asset
- Ability to work at ease with team members, stakeholders, suppliers, and legal counsel
- Experience leading cross-functional teams through Category Management processes
- Ability to take complex situations and leverage problem solving, communication, and project management skills to present sound recommendations
- Experience negotiating Information Technology commercial and contractual contracts
- Strong financial acumen to assess, verify and interpret deal economics and commitments
- End-to-end Supply Chain experience including processes, tools and the interdependencies between category management, purchasing, materials management & logistics, supplier performance & relationship management
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills with ability to tailor messaging to varying levels of stakeholders
