Job Description:

Department Overview:

The Basel Reporting team within the Chief Accountant’s Department, Specialized Reporting and Solutions Management (SRSM) is primarily responsible for providing relevant, accurate and timely reporting of the Consolidated Bank’s capital and leverage reporting. The group also has the mandate to be a Subject Matter Expert in Regulatory Capital Reporting and Basel III Frameworks reporting.

Job Description:

Chief Accountant’s is the Business Owner of the RWA/BCAR monthly operational activities and works closely with the Capital reporting Business Segments and Corporate Platform Technology Solutions (CPT) to enable the monthly reporting of regulatory capital (quarterly to OSFI) under Basel III Reform rules. The Basel III reporting process is subject to continued regulatory change and is also impacted by most changes implemented throughout the Bank, including changes which are not directly related to Basel III.

The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in the completion of monthly and quarterly reporting for Basel III RWA/BCAR, quarterly public disclosures and supplementary regulatory reporting. This role will report directly to the Specialized Finance Manager.

The accountabilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to gain an understanding of the consolidated Bank and business segments Basel III reporting processes including BCAR and Pillar 3 disclosures.

  • Support segment reporting, mainly Corporate, Insurance and Wealth segments, with monthly and quarterly reporting including providing guidance on Basel III guidelines

  • Timely completion of inputs, supporting documents, segment reconciliations and analysis for BCAR regulatory capital as well as completing quarterly disclosures

  • Produce the BCARs for assigned segments and consolidated Trend Report

  • Become the Chief Accountant’s point of contact during monthly and quarterly production periods for responsible processes

  • Complete quarterly OSFI Waivers and Exemptions report and semi-annual Standard and Poor survey

  • Provide ad-hoc reports/analysis to Business Segments, Enterprise Capital Management, Basel Office, Risk Management, external auditors/internal auditors and OSFI, as appropriate

  • Review and update of procedure documents for responsible processes

  • Involvement in projects and testing as it relates to new regulatory requirements and system updates

  • Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen and improve processes and controls

  • Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, productivity, innovation, creativity, analysis, and advice

Job Requirements:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or similar) or working towards one

  • 5+ years financial accounting and reporting experience

  • Knowledge of Basel capital frameworks would be an asset

  • Highly motivated with strong time management aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to be flexible

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines and delivering accurate results.

  • Proactive with the ability to anticipate issues and recommend solutions

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and proven ability to work within and across teams

  • Excellent knowledge of financial tools such as Oracle Financial Consolidation, Reporting and Analysis tools, Excel, Word, Pivot tables as well as the ability to learn new tools when required
