Position Overview: The Senior Director, Risk Governance Framework will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the risk governance framework across the organization. This role involves integrating risk governance with the Company’s corporate governance, accountability, and decision-making processes. The successful candidate will become a member of the Enterprise Risk team within the Global Risk Management function.
You have extensive experience in risk management within the financial services industry and a strong understanding of OSFI regulatory requirements and international standards. You know that understanding and managing risk can lead to value protection and value creation. You keenly recognize the importance of clear accountabilities, which are articulated in policies and demonstrated in committees. You are excited to share your expertise with various stakeholders in a pragmatic and approachable way. You are comfortable around senior executives and can influence others to drive great outcomes in support of sound risk culture.
Key Responsibilities:

Enhance, implement, and maintain the Risk Governance Framework, which includes the risk policy framework, risk committee framework and three lines governance and operating model.

Enhance, implement and oversee the risk policy framework. Establish processes to reasonably assure that all risk policies are up-to-date, comprehensive, and aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and that policy sponsors can evidence appropriate stakeholder consultation, impact assessment, and policy adherence.

Manage the risk committee framework, facilitating effective communication and decision-making among various risk committees, including top-down direction and bottom-up escalation and reporting.

Foster the effective implementation of the three lines of governance and operating model, promoting clear roles and responsibilities across the organization.

Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Risk Governance Framework, in compliance with regulatory requirements (including from OSFI) and the adherence to risk policies.

Promote integration of risk governance into planning and decision-making processes.

Prepare reports on risk governance for various audiences including the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.

Develop and deliver training and awareness programs on risk governance.
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Background in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Economics, Actuarial, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred); experience in consulting, financial services first line, compliance, legal, or audit considered a plus.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk management, preferably within the financial services industry.

Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

Extensive experience in interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into plain language internal policies and procedures.

Sharp analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Self-starter that takes initiative and is passionate about driving outcomes.

In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, international standards, and industry best practices.

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Ability to see the big picture and pay attention to detail.

Ability to influence and deliver amidst ambiguity.

Previous experience in designing, implementing, and validating the effectiveness of controls.

$105,750.00 CAD – $190,350.00 CAD
