Current ENMAX employees are encouraged to apply through their internal Workday access.Posted: March 10, 2025Closing Date: March 24, 2025Position Type: PermanentUnion: Exempt MPENMAX Values – Safety, Integrity, Accountability, Service, Teamwork, Agility, InnovationThe Senior Engineer, Transmission and Distribution Operations Planning will deliver grid simulations, analytics, operations and training of system control center operators to prepare for real time operations of a dynamic evolving grid.Major responsibilities:Independently lead analysis of operational technology stack in ADMS to provide actionable operational decision making to evaluate and mitigate grid risks.Independently perform and authenticate Transmission and Distribution simulations studies to identify and mitigate risks. Translate risks to control center operators and engineering business units via contingency plans and regulatory evidence.Prepare and deliver highly technical transmission and distribution operation training to system control center operators, operations engineer and management to prepare individuals for real time operationsSubject matter expertise is ADMS applications such as DMS, EMS and SCADA systems from an advanced end user perspective. Navigate ADMS applications to determine and distribution system risks. Create and present highly complex technical mitigation action plans for real time operations.Lead the creation, approval and training of technical system operations procedure for real time engineers, senior on call, field crews, system control center operators and ARS AB Reliability Standards requirements.Perform Senior on Call role as incident commander as a part of operational incident management response plan under system operations.Education required:An Electrical Engineering degree is required, along with eligibility for registration with APEGA.Qualifications and experience:Minimum of 10 years’ experience as an operations engineer and knowledge of utility operations, maintenance and simulations.Subject Matter Experience with Python, CYME, PSSE, SQL, e-terra, and PowerBI.Excellent skills with MS Office applications.Understanding of transmission and distribution utility operations including secondary meshed networks and distribution automation.Experience using ADMS Advanced Distribution Management Software programs such as EMS, DMS and SCADA.Knowledge of Distribution and Transmission Protection & Control and Distribution Automation schemes and equipment would be a benefit.Competencies:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
