About the role:

As Senior legal Counsel for Canada, you will provide sound legal advice, compliance guidance, and solutions to your business clients under the direction of the Senior Legal Director. This role is based in Brampton, Canada, and supports business activities in Canada.

As a legal generalist, your expertise will impact a wide range of legal and compliance areas within the medical device sector and broader business operations. Serving as a business partner is essential to this position, enabling you to deliver strategic counsel and provide effective legal solutions for complex Canadian matters as well as global projects.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Brampton office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide clear advice to business clients and senior management on applicable Canadian laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements such as complex supplier agreements, pricing, rebate agreements, capital equipment agreements, consulting agreements with healthcare providers (“HCPs”), and other agreements.
  • Support review, approval, and documentation for the engagement of Canadian HCPs and cross-border interactions with HCPs following the relevant policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with US-based and international in-house counsel on specific matters or projects; and cross-functionally, both at local and global level, and find solutions for business clients consistent with applicable law, company policies and procedures, and Boston Scientific’s Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with Global Privacy to implement required data protection measures, maintain up-to-date privacy policies, ensure employee training, and establish clear protocols for data handling, retention, and breach response.
  • Work with various functions, including Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, Global Compliance, Finance, HR, to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance.
  • Stay current on legislative changes, laws, and regulations impacting the medical device industry.
  • Operate as a proactive, self-assured professional with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Take ownership of legal matters and develop creative, actionable solutions.

Required qualifications:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in any Canadian Province.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience practicing law.
  • Expertise in healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic legal guidance in a regulated, business-driven environment.
  • Experience providing legal and compliance counsel to cross-functional business teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Regulatory.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, and organizational/ time management skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Health Canada, and other administrative regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain alignment across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organization, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data and deliver clear, objective risk assessments.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.

Maximum Salary: $272800

The anticipated compensation and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com–will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.

Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

Compensation for salaried, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

Compensation for sales roles is governed by Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives).
