Join our team

Our Telecom Policy and Regulatory Affairs group is charged with providing regulatory legal advice in relation to telecommunications and radiocommunication matters as well as addressing related compliance and reporting requirements. In addition, our group is responsible for telecom submissions to the CRTC and other public bodies, including ISED. We are an interdisciplinary team of advocates, including lawyers, and other seasoned telecommunications experts. Together, we apply regulatory and public policy rules and principles along with legal and technical knowledge to advance TELUS’ interests within the Canadian telecommunications industry. We are a team that works in a collaborative and supportive fashion.

Here is how

  • Preparing regulatory advice in response to inquiries received from the various business units
  • Drafting and filing compliance materials and reports
  • Delivering timely analysis of regulatory rules and decisions and assessing proposed regulatory strategies
  • Advising senior management and their business units on new regulatory rules established by government bodies and supporting compliance activities
  • Embracing a culture that advances our strategic imperatives and corporate priorities, including our Customers First strategy

Qualifications

You are the missing piece of the puzzle

  • 5 -10 years’ experience practicing law and preferably experience with Telecommunications/Radiocommunication law, or experience with providing regulatory advice in a related regulatory statutory domain
  • Excellent written advocacy and oral communications skills
  • A demonstrated ability to manage complex files involving cross-functional teams, prioritize and deal with multiple assignments, and exercise judgment, often under significant time pressures
  • A demonstrated ability to balance business requirements against regulatory risks and to formulate solutions to advance the needs of the various business units
  • Ability to make decisions when ambiguity is present

Great-to-haves

  • Knowledge of spectrum policy and associated regulatory frameworks
  • Member of the US Bar and/or familiarity with US telecom matters
  • Experience with Broadcasting law is an asset
  • Ability to read and communicate in French
