Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer – LHA1860H – Higher Education Administration and Leadership Capstone

Course description:

This course will provide students the opportunity to review, integrate, synthesize, and apply what they have learned through their coursework in a Capstone project. The Capstone project will be a culminating, comprehensive, and scholarly project. It will address one or more complex empirical issue(s) relevant to the leadership challenges in the students’ professional work context. The project will ask the students to demonstrate their ability to identify and define the issue/problem, conduct an insightful analysis and critique of the scholarly literature that informs the issue. This includes philosophical foundations, theoretical frameworks, conceptual models, and the research methodologies employed. Students are expected to gather relevant secondary or primary data and propose feasible strategies/approaches to resolve the issue(s). Implications for implementation of the proposed resolution will be clearly identified and supported. Students may opt to participate in the organization and delivery of a Leadership Forum for the dissemination of knowledge gained.

In Person, Compressed Schedule: Fridays 2-7pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm on Jan9-10, Jan30-31, Feb27-28 and March 27-28

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026

Salary:

Pay for half course, vacation pay included:

$9,820.70 – Sessional Lecturer I

$10,510.04 – Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term

$10,510.04 – Sessional Lecturer II

$10,760.28 – Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term

$10,760.28 – Sessional Lecturer III

$11,030.36 – Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications:

Candidates must hold a doctorate in Higher Education or a related field; have a demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Higher Education and the subject area of the course; have practical experience related to the topic of the course; and have successful graduate teaching experience in the subject area of the course and a successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus. Candidates must have demonstrated scholarship in the area of administration or leadership in post-secondary setting or 1+ years of work experience in leadership administration in a post-secondary institution.

Prepare, organize, and lead this graduate half course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback.
