It also houses secure clinical exam space used for a variety of practical exams and is utilized by clients and partners outside of the university.Position SummaryReporting to the Team Lead, HSERC, and working closely with the Director, Simulation FoMD, the Simulation Design Consultant is a key position in simulation education and HSERC service provision. This role applies expertise in experiential education to support the direction and development of simulation education within the FoMD and the CHS. The Simulation Design Consultant supports and mentors clinical experts and educators by providing expertise on the design, delivery, and evaluation of simulation-enhanced curricula, courses and training.The Simulation Design Consultant works with multiple stakeholders throughout the University as well as external partners (such as AHS) and external HSERC clients. They support the development of new simulation methodologies and technologies to enhance the training of learners and faculty throughout the CHS.Duties

• Work with educators and subject matter experts to design immersive learning simulation experiences relevant to the role and level of experience of the learner across the entire continuum of care.
• Develop, promote, and facilitate the use of simulation methodology.
• Working with existing or new case developers, the consultant will provide knowledge and examples of how to best utilize simulation-based education to meet the needs of the clients and their learners.
• Review and develop lifecycle plans for current and future equipment and technology needs (including audio visual equipment) required for optimal delivery of simulation.
• Liaises with other members of the HSERC team to ensure smooth delivery of simulation enhanced education
• Provides operational, logistical, and theatrical support for the simulation program including ensuring centre readiness, prep and turnover, operating simulation and AV equipment
• Assists in pre-brief, delivery, and debrief of simulation experiences consistent with best practices
• Liaise with other designers and educators in the CHS to follow best practices in design

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a health related field
• Master’s degree is an asset
• 3-5 years of experience in education/simulation
• Experience in the provision of simulation and clinical education
• Experience working in a team environment health or interdisciplinary related
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills (oral and written)
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment (i.e. adaptable to change, flexible, and ability to solve problems as they arise)
• Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite of applications, MS Office.
