We are seeking a dynamic and driven engineer who contributes to the overall success of CCA Technology, Payments team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

What You’ll Do

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Contribute to the assessment of sizing and complexity of User Stories and to the solutioning of those Stories.
• Develop User Stories to a high level of quality, including identifying error scenarios, the development of automated tests, and the review of code coverage and static code analysis reports.
• Ensure deliverables meet architectural and coding expectations, including leveraging modern language features and functional programming coding styles.
• Contribute to reviews of pull requests created by peers.
• Proactively monitor application environments with available tools, create awareness in the larger team of any observed issues, and contribute to resolving those issues.
• Proactively identify opportunities to drive modernization of technology and automation of processes, including offering ideas of solutions to these opportunities.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You Bring

• Very strong English communication skills, both oral and written.
• 3 to 5+ years’ experience in a Java Developer role;
  • 2+ years’ experience with Java8 or higher
  • 2+ years’ experience with Spring Boot
• Expert level expereince with Postman, or REST, or SOAP API platforms
• Must have experience with RDMS preferably with SQL Server and DB2.
• Spanish speaking and previous experience working with LatAm teams is an Asset
• Familiarity with cloud platform technologies is an asset
• Familiarity with other technologies (such as NodeJS) is an asset
• Familiarity with Payment and Card technologies is an asset
• Experience in SCRUM Agile teams is an asset
• Experience working on multiple initiatives concurrently
• Experience working remotely in distributed project engagements
• Experience in banking or financial industry is an asset
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent
