The Specialist, Alternate Payment Plans will provide assistance in overseeing the provincial Alternate Payment Plans (APPs) for physician members. Working closely with the Director of APP, the Specialist will support the physician groups and liaise with internal and external stakeholders in areas such as business case preparation, contract negotiation, implementation and conflict resolution associated with each APP. The Specialist is able to excel in a fast paced, rapidly evolving environment and will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and maintain a good working relationship with OMA members, Ministry of Health (MOH), the health research community, other medical associations, government bodies, business/consumer groups, various healthcare providers, and others as appropriate.How you will make a difference

• Acting as the primary subject matter expert for non-fee-for services programs;
• Providing data and analytical support to the APP program in monitoring program expenditures, reporting discrepancies and submitting regular reports to leadership;
• Assisting in knowledge transfer activities such as drafting publications, development of presentations and other materials for internal and external stakeholders;
• Participating in stakeholder consultations, developing contacts and alliances with external groups, other medical associations, government bodies, other health care providers, and others as appropriate, to facilitate APP contract negotiation and implementation;
• Identifying significant issues in relation to APP both inside and outside of the Physician Services Agreement (PSA); drafting briefing notes and reconciling conflicting positions, taking into account both the evidence base for the information and the practical impacts upon the system, patients, and/or profession, and collaborating with the PSC, the Board, and/or Council to address areas of concern;
• Collaborating with other departments in evaluating existing datasets and identify information gaps that need to be filled;
• Preparing reports, presentations, and data visualizations for various departments, committees and other partners to explain research and analytic findings;
• Assisting in other operational duties as assigned;
• Leading administrative duties such as scheduling and processing members’ Honoria;
• Delivering on special projects as assigned.

Requirements that are important to us

• Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Economics, Business, Political Science or equivalent. Masters’ degree is an asset
• Three to five (3-5) years’ related work experience in program operations and management, data analysis, and project management.
• Applied knowledge and experience in Ontario’s health care sector, especially in public funding, is strongly desired
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in fast paced environments where flexibility is required
• Detail oriented with a high proficiency in Word, Power Point, Excel
• Strong analytical, and critical thinking skills and ability
• Ability to build and manage relationships with both internal and external customers/stakeholders
