Job Summary:We are seeking an innovative and analytical individual to join our team as Specialist, Innovation. This role will be instrumental in starting Porter’s new Innovation practice, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and implementing new ideas that enhance our operations and passenger experience. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for potential opportunities, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to bring innovative ideas to life. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Scope and Analyze Potential Projects: Evaluate new project ideas by analyzing their potential benefits, required resources, and implementation effort. Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making. Define business requirements and implementation steps. Evaluate project benefit, costs and ROI.
  • Identify Roadmap Opportunities: Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and prioritize roadmap items that could improve our operations or enhance the passenger experience. Generate new ideas by getting users together (workshops, hackathons) and leveraging a Design Thinking mindset
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Engage with teams across the airline to discover opportunities for innovation, share best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Pilot and Launch New Ideas: Lead the testing, trialing, and piloting of new concepts. Support the projectization, prioritization, development and launch of successful innovations, ensuring they are effectively integrated into our operations. Evangelize successful piloted ideas, and build the lessons learned story around ideas that didn’t work.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to inform and inspire the innovation process.
  • Actively participates in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in business analysis, project management, or a related role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams across the organization and to understand workflows and objectives of each part of the airline
  • A passion for innovation and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Technical – strong understanding of computing fundamentals and technical systems, including network, hardware, systems administration and development.
  • Strong ability to build trust and influence others
  • Teamwork mindset – ability to successfully interact with individuals within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-Starter – Possess initiative and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Travel/Aviation experience an asset.
