Job Description

Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst will take the lead role in supporting operations on business and financial analysis as well as leading the overall Business Plan and Guidance processes for Alberta Communities, at the consolidated Calgary/Edmonton and Alberta levels. This includes preparing reporting and analysis for management, preparing reporting to BRPI, preparing Partnership packages for both internal and external review, as well as ad hoc analysis as required. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst will help model various scenarios required for operations, including existing project and future acquisitions.

Your Key Deliverables

Forecasting/Modelling

  • Monthly guidance process including preparing, consolidating and reviewing
  • Provide recommendations to Alberta Executive/Ops leadership on guidance, including identifying and communicating risks and opportunities to achieving
  • Prepare, consolidate and review AB Executive Summary and other key Quarterly analysis
  • Preparing sensitivity and scenario analysis as required
  • Preparing project DCFs
  • Process improvement on guidance process and systems utilization
  • Assist with forecasting enhancement projects & data management within forecasting software/tools (ex. NSE/Vena/LandDev)
  • Support projects that leverage reporting tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency of forecasting models.

Business Plan

  • Setting up DCFs and leading/coordinating Ops teams
  • Assisting with Calgary & Edmonton City consolidated divisional and asset reporting, as well as BRPI reporting (City Level & Alberta)
  • Valuation/EVA & impairment analysis
  • Preparing schedules and compiling data for presentations and management review

Strategic Analysis

  • Phase/Stage project approvals
  • Models to reflect builder returns or different lot takedown structures
  • Acquisitions & divestitures
  • Financial analysis for both recurring and ad hoc projects (financial and operational)
  • Alignment of modelling/processes/packages across Alberta

Land Dev/ Divisional Specific

  • Working with operations teams to generate monthly cash flow and budget information within the LandDev system
  • Preparing files within LandDev for operations team use for monthly forecasting, annual review, and business planning
  • Incorporating LandDev system reports into existing models/assist in process improvement to utilize the system
  • Coordinating with accounting teams in order to ensure appropriate project information is reflected in the LandDev system

Must Haves

  • CPA, CFA or equivalent designation and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major or medium-sized company.
  • Strong leadership skills and track record of leading people and process through self and others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks/issues and recommend solutions
  • Proficiency in planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and building, and managing complex financial models and financial statements
