Please note: This is a fixed-term contract set to conclude in June 2025. 

About the Role: 

Reporting to the Manager, Student Experience, the Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and assessing programs and opportunities that engage the wider Goodman School of Business (GSB) student body and build spirit of belonging to Goodman. The Student Experience Coordinator will coordinate events, prepare competition teams and prepare regular communications to all students. 

The Student Experience Coordinator will: 

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of programs and extracurricular events that are inclusive for all Goodman students;
  • Foster a spirited and prideful environment that enhances the student experience and motivation;
  • Collaborate with student clubs to provide them with the tools required to create successful events;
  • Coordinate room bookings, audio visual accommodations, and furniture bookings for all GSB student clubs;
  • Lead the design, development, implementation and coordination of continual programming/events to engage students regularly in the Goodman School of Business Atrium;
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Goodman Gate operations including maintaining the Gate schedule;
  • Monitor and evaluate student engagement programs to promote the personal development of a diverse student population;
  • Lead the design, organize, coordinate and implement all aspects of an extensive Welcome Week and transition activities for the Goodman School of Business to enrich the student experience;
  • Participate on the campus-wide orientation planning committee and provide updates on behalf of the GSB;
  • Lead all aspects of Goodman’s competition teams (i.e., people, logistics, operations, administration, etc.);
  • Work with faculty and students to fully coordinate student participation in competitions (i.e., John Molson, MBA Games, Goodman Gold, JDCC etc.);
  • Lead the discussion and coordinate with various departments to ensure that student communication is effective, consistent and coordinated;
  • Respond to student engagement inquires via email or through the Goodman student portal;
  • Develop, track, report on, and participate in the assessment of student experience activities and initiatives (i.e., participation/roster lists, attendance, program outcome metrics, etc.).

Please note: This position requires occasional evenings and weekends. 

Key Skills and Experience: 

  • An undergraduate degree in Business or a closely related field;
  • Experience in an academic capacity working with students and or youth;
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Ability to relate to and gain the confidence of the student demographic;
  • Strong communication skills and the proven ability to communicate professionally when interacting with students, faculty, and staff;
  • Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communications skills and professional public speaking ability;
  • Ability to coach, mentor, motivate and demonstrate leadership;
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible, and adaptable to a readily changing environment;
  • Conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to probe, analyze, and develop solutions for unique circumstances.

Preferred or Asset Skills: 

  • Understanding of student government/student unions an asset;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of event planning and project management;
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution.

Salary and Total Rewards: 

  • Job Grade J, Salary Scale ($52,920-$90,720);
  • Target Hiring Range: $52,920-$54,000
  • This is a fixed-term contract that includes:
  • Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Hybrid work schedule available.
  • The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
