About this Opportunity:

The Role

This unique role will allow the selected candidate to get exposure to two areas within Celestica’s Corporate Finance team: Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), and Learning and Development (L&D).

FP&A responsibilities include assistance with forecasting, planning, management reporting, and ad-hoc analysis for both senior and executive management. The material prepared will be reviewed by the executive team, including the CEO/CFO of the company as well as the board of directors. Responsibilities also include driving continuous improvement in areas under the intern’s scope.

From the L&D side, the intern has an opportunity to provide support to the global Finance community by preparing and maintaining Finance training resources, publishing Finance communications (e.g., e-magazine, Finance intranet) and assisting with Finance recruiting events.

The Person

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual interested in gaining insight into the Finance function of a global business. You are eager to learn, have strong attention to detail and able to perform effectively under pressure. A confident communicator, you can effectively deliver concise messages to global team members and executives. Knowledge of Finance and Accounting concepts will contribute to the quality of your work. A passion for talent development is advantageous (building competencies, promoting a sense of community, etc.), as well as experience with event logistics or course deployment and delivery. Interest and knowledge in financial statement analysis and financial modelling will also be advantageous.

Preferred Skills:

Essential

  • Enrollment in a University internship/co-op program

  • Completing 3rd year in a 4-year program or 4th year in a 5-year program in Business Management/ Commerce/ Accounting / Economics / Mathematics

  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal

  • High degree of analytical abilities (quantitative and qualitative)

  • Skills in financial modelling, particularly for quantitative analysis

  • Strong internet, research and computer skills (specifically Microsoft Suite, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint; Google Apps for Business)

  • Creativity and attention to detail while working under tight timelines

  • Adaptable, and sense of urgency to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities

  • High degree of organization

  • Ability to learn fast and work progressively more independently

  • Spirit of collaboration and teamwork

  • Values driven with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work

Desirable

  • Interest in pursuing the CPA designation

  • Specific communications, marketing, or events experience

  • Teaching/coaching/training development and deployment experience

  • Website upkeep and database management aptitudes

  • Knowledge of accounting standards for financial reporting

Physical Demands, duties of this position are varied and will include:

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment

  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data

  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.)
