More particularly this summer, we are looking to hire a physics, bio/chemistry, biotechnology student. Depending on your skills, this project may include any of the following tasks – and more: (i) fabricate nanopores using the controlled breakdown method; (ii) characterize the ionic current response to these nanofluidic channels; (iii) perform protein and DNA biosensing experiments; (iv) analyze the data using custom software; (v) chemically functionalize SiN membranes through polymer coatings; (vi) prepare reagents for digital immunoassays, including, coating magnetic beads with antibodies, functionalize gold nanoparticles with DNA, and assemble DNA origami nanostructures.This project is an excellent learning opportunity for students who wish to work in high technology or research, where scientific reasoning and experimental skill must be coupled with practical know-how and engineering problem solving.
