Work Schedule: Weekend Shift: Friday – Sunday; 6:00 am- 6:00 pm (36hrs per week) .

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $40.5. This position is entitled to $2.5 per hour.

This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Join Our Team as a Team Leader (Machine Shop)!

Are you passionate about machining? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our machine shop function. As a Team Leader (Machine Shop), you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machine(s)
  • Monitor machine operation and perform troubleshooting tactics when necessary.
  • Use manual pump trucks, cranes (overhead / jib) and lift devices as required to move material and finished product(s)
  • Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans, and verify correct run quantities.
  • Seek to reduce scrap levels by continuous improvement.
  • Assist in leading daily start-up meetings & maintaining production boards as required.
  • Assist with coordinating cross-departmental / shift activities or initiatives.
  • Assist in ensuring the team follows all department, organizational and Human Resources policies & procedures.
  • perform quality spot checks.
  • Support the Supervisor with problem-solving and making recommendations for day-to-day production.
  • Assume some responsibilities of the Supervisor when the Supervisor is absent.
  • Participate and share input for Team Members’ performance reviews
  • Monitor the safety of team member work areas.
  • Participate in Gemba walks, investigations, inspections, and corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, safety policies and procedures.

Who are we looking for? Someone who has:

  • Three (3) years’ experience within a production environment running CNC operations & equipment.
  • One (1) year of experience in a leadership role supporting CNC operations & equipment.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing concepts is an asset
  • Strong ability to read engineering drawings (blueprints)
  • Familiarity with CNC equipment and Processes within a Machine Shop environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or other MRP systems, MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal), excellent listening skills and strong ability to understand issues to support team members as required.
  • Ability to instruct, train and coach others.
  • Ability to adapt on the fly to meet the needs of the department and customers.
  • Ability to follow and create work instructions to meet production targets

Physical demands:

  • Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
  • Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
  • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
