The Department of Sociology at Western University (www.sociology.uwo.ca) invites applications for a probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date will be July 1, 2026 or as negotiated.
The Department is seeking a scholar with demonstrated excellence in quantitative sociological research whose work advances knowledge in one or both of the following areas: Health and the Life Course or Work and the Economy.
To be considered for this appointment, applicants must have a PhD in Sociology or a related discipline completed by the start date of the appointment. The successful candidate will have a proven record of excellence in research as appropriate for career stage, which includes publications and dissemination of scholarly work and research as well as evidence of success in teaching at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities will include teaching the equivalent of four half-year courses at the undergraduate level per year, graduate student supervision and departmental service. Preference will be given to scholars whose quantitative research methods complement and strengthen the department’s established strengths in quantitative analysis and modelling.
