Tenure-Track Assistant Professor – Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick – Fredericton (UNB) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology. We are open to area of specialty but are particularly seeking those with expertise in Human Neuroscience or Quantitative Methods. The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated date of commencement is July 1, 2025, or January 1, 2026. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 – 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.
Qualifications of the Successful Candidate
•Ph.D. in Psychology (must be completed at time of appointment) with training and experience in any area of psychology, including human neuroscience (e.g., behavioural neuroscience or neuropsychology), quantitative methods, cognition and perception.
•Demonstrated promise of excellence in research, teaching, and supervision.
Duties of the Successful Candidate
•Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in Statistics, Biological Psychology, Human Neuropsychology, Physiological Psychology, Drugs and Behaviour, Survey of the Senses, and in their area of specialization.
•Establishing of a program of research, including supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research.
•Contributing to the collegial atmosphere and operation of the department through active participation in administrative service.

The Department of Psychology
UNB’s Psychology Department in Fredericton is housed within the Faculty of Arts and offers a variety of degree programs, including BA and BSc major and honours degrees in Psychology (with or without a Neuroscience Specialization), BSc major and honours degrees in Biology-Psychology (with or without a Neuroscience Specialization), a certificate program in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and PhD programs in both Clinical Psychology (CPA accredited) and Psychology (formerly Experimental Psychology). Access is available to research space/infrastructure (e.g., electroencephalography/EEG and eye-tracking equipment), neuropsychological assessment tools, and dedicated (in house) IT services. The Department has cultivated strong relationships with a number of healthcare facilities, including the Centre for Innovation and Research in Aging, located in Fredericton’s largest long-term care facility: York Care Centre and the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton, the province’s tertiary rehabilitation facility for brain trauma. These connections also extend to various research and educational institutions both within Fredericton and across the province, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances opportunities for interdisciplinary research and real-world application.
