Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Geological Engineering
Université Laval, located in Québec City, is a comprehensive university known for excellence in teaching and research. The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track position in Geohazards and ground movements (natural and anthropogenic terrains).
Position Overview
The successful candidate will:
• Teach and supervise students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Develop a funded, innovative research program aligned with departmental strengths.
• Participate in departmental and faculty activities.
• Contribute to the university’s visibility through external academic engagement.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
• Hold a bachelor’s in geological engineering or a related field, and a Ph.D. relevant to the position (or have submitted their thesis).
• Demonstrate research capability and potential for an independent research program.
• Show ability or potential to teach at all university levels and supervise graduate students.
• Commit to pedagogical innovation and community service.
• Be able to teach in French or commit to doing so within three years.
• Be or become a member of a Canadian professional engineering association within three years.
• Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in science and engineering.
Candidates should also demonstrate key competencies:

Salary and Conditions
Salary will be based on the collective agreement in effect at hiring.
Departmental Context
The department includes 13 professors, 150 undergraduate students, and over 80 graduate students. Research focuses on:
• Geomaterials
• Mineral resources
• Natural hazard analysis
• Hydrogeology
