FACULTY OF EDUCATION
TERM ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
The Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick invites applications for a 1-year term position in Early Childhood Education at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The start date for this position is July 1, 2026, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 – 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.
We invite applications for a position deeply rooted in critical inquiry and transformative pedagogies in early childhood education. The successful candidate will hold a minimum Master’s degree in Education, with a demonstrated grounding in reconceptualist early childhood theories and research. The applicant must demonstrate excellence in their teaching.
This position is for someone who challenges the status quo—a curious, courageous, and relational educator who can navigate complexity and contradiction with care.
The ideal candidate will bring:
• A Master’s degree in Education (PhD preferred), with a strong foundation in reconceptualist early childhood theories and research.
• Substantial experience engaging with provincial early learning frameworks and K–3 curricula.
• A deep understanding of feminist, queer, anti-racist, class-conscious, and critical disability theories as they relate to early childhood (birth to eight) pedagogies.
• Lived or professional familiarity with the context and landscape of early learning and child care centres and/or K-3 teaching experience.
• Commitment to relational, decolonial, and socially responsive pedagogies aligned with reconceptualist traditions.
The successful applicant must demonstrate a responsive teaching practice that reflects relational depth across a wide range of curricular areas. The ideal candidate is someone who not only teaches content but also cultivates curiosity, critical inquiry, and collective responsibility within diverse learning environments.
We are seeking someone who will take a leadership role in the design, updating and delivery of the BEd ECE online courses. Because this position involves significant work in online contexts, substantial experience teaching in digital learning environments is essential.
Deadline for applications is February 27, 2026. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
