The University of Windsor’s Centre for Teaching and Learning invites applications for a Learning Specialist, Ancillary Academic Staff II (AAS-LS) on a two-year limited term appointment, with a focus on curriculum development. The position will commence in early 2026.

Our campus is situated on the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations: the Ojibwa, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. We are working towards the Indigenization of academic programming, and an Indigenous Strategic plan.

The University of Windsor is a Canadian public, comprehensive research university enrolling 15,676 students, including 4,709 graduate students. It offers more than 280 academic programs and certificates, including 70 master’s and doctoral degrees across its nine faculties: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Business; Education; Engineering; Graduate Studies; Human Kinetics; Law; Nursing; and Science. It also houses a medical program through the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. Tenured and tenure-track faculty number about 600.

The CTL is a vibrant centre, with a national and international reputation and a mandate to support teaching and learning at the University of Windsor. The unit is composed of a mix of faculty and staff positions that work together to create a culture of scholarly and effective teaching at the University of Windsor to inspire student learning. The Ancillary Academic Staff (AAS-LS) position will primarily focus on engaging in program development, review and revision; assisting others in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching, courses, programs, and curricula that are responsive to student and contextual needs; and launching programs and services to support educational development in the disciplines and across campus. More generally, the incumbent will also contribute to the Centre’s overall mission to support and enhance the University’s culture of scholarly, evidence-based, and effective teaching.

The AAS-LS works in collaboration with members of the CTL as well as faculty and staff from academic units, departments, service areas from across campus and disciplines; the position may also liaise with others cross-institutionally, nationally and internationally. Duties will be assigned by the Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, and will encompass a variety of forms, focused in the areas of teaching, service, and research.

The successful candidate must have:
• A graduate degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D. strongly preferred)
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective teaching, and course and program design, including assessment design, assessment planning, learning outcome development, curriculum mapping, learning analytics, and program review
• Successful teaching experience in higher education, preferably at the university level (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, faculty)
• Knowledge of inclusivity, accessibility, decolonization, and strategies for promoting equity in teaching and course design
• Knowledge of Indigenizing teaching practices, courses, and/or curriculum
• Experience working in educational development at the University level, and experience with supporting instructors (i.e., faculty, sessionals, graduate and teaching assistants) in course and curriculum design, teaching design, and learning outcome development
• Experience with program coordination and resource development at the University level
• Knowledge of higher education, provincial, and institutional contexts
• Familiarity with the academic mission of the university, and the goals of undergraduate and graduate education
• Familiarity with teaching and learning literature, and experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning and/or the scholarship of educational development
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with and consult with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds in a professional and collaborative manner
• Excellent oral and written skills in English
• Excellent organizational skills, time management, and project management
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience
• Ability to set priorities and work independently and as part of a team

Compensation:
The salary range for the rank is outlined in Article A Table A.1 of the current Collective Agreement with the Windsor University Faculty Association. The compensation offered to the successful candidate will take into consideration the existing salary structure.
