In this role, you will provide secretarial support to a multidisciplinary group of staff and physicians in the Breast Diagnostic Centre. This role plays a key role in maintaining patient flow. You’re a great relationship builder and foster close contacts with peers across the entire organization. You are able to work independently, manage priorities, and multitask in a high-paced environment. You have great interpersonal skills, and effortlessly connect with patients, families, physicians, and staff. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.On a practical level, you will
- Book appointments for staff and family physicians in the Breast Diagnostic Centre.
- Appropriately schedule staff and physicians’ use of exam and counseling rooms to ensure maximum utilization.
- Provide secretarial support for all staff and physicians in the Breast Diagnostic Centre.
- Schedule referrals to specialists and book required tests and/or procedures.
- Assemble, maintain, and file charts.
- Interact in an empathetic and respectful manner with patients dealing with sensitive and private health.
- Answer telephone calls and redirects patient calls as appropriate.
- Faxing and typing as required for physicians and staff.
Qualifications
- Medical Secretary/Office Assistant Certificate required.
- Two years of secretarial experience in a medical office or hospital environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, i.e. Microsoft Office
- Accurate and efficient keyboarding skills of 50 w.p.m.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems an asset.
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset.

This is a Part Time Regular position, with 8 hours shifts, days and evening shifts in the Cancer Care, Breast Diagnostic Centre. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
