Vac Equipment Operator (Class 1 )

Clean Harbors in Calgary, AB is seeking an Equipment Operator (Class 1 licensed) to join their safety conscious team! This role involves operating heavy equipment within company/customer facilities to stage and move waste material. The role will also require performing labor-intensive duties such as hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling hazardous materials. The position can also require working in confined spaces for tank and vessel cleaning.

  • Ability to drive manual transmission.
  • Willing to work after hours/nights for emergency response purposes.

  • Class 1 license is highly preferred.

  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and

  • Operate and transport wet vacs, dry vacs, steam trucks, and related industrial equipment.
  • Perform tank/vessel cleaning and hazardous waste cleanup, including maneuvering large hoses.
  • Conduct pre-/post-trip inspections and ensure safe, proper equipment operation, report issues promptly.
  • Respond to emergencies involving chemical/biological spills and support routine decontamination tasks.
  • Operate light/heavy equipment (pumps, vac systems, generators, bobcats) and use various hand and powered industrial tools.
  • Maintain equipment and follow all safety and environmental procedures.
