W.P. Bell Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025-2027, Centre for Indigenous and Critical Canadian Studies, Mount Allison University

The Centre for Indigenous and Critical Canadian Studies at Mount Allison University invites applications for a non-renewable two-year postdoctoral fellowship. Applicants should have a recently completed PhD or be near completion by the time the appointment takes effect on 1 July 2025.

Prospective candidates should have an active research program in a field relevant to Indigenous and Critical Canadian Studies. The field of research is open, but beyond Indigenous Studies, the Centre particularly encourages applications from those whose scholarship focuses on Black Canadian Studies, Black migration studies, Black Queer and Trans Studies, Black Health Studies, Black Atlantic Studies, or other related critical issues in contemporary Canada. The successful candidate will work with scholars actively engaged in research related to Indigeneity, anti-colonialism, racial diversity, border issues, critical citizenship, literary and cultural representation, and the scholarship of teaching and learning in higher education.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach at all levels of Mount Allison’s academic program in Canadian Studies over the tenure of this award, and will be involved in the Centre’s outreach, scholarship, and co-curricular programs. Normally, teaching includes participation in Canadian Studies team-taught introductory courses and one other course per semester. Canadian Studies is particularly interested in fellows with teaching capacity in a range of areas, including: Indigenous nations of the Atlantic region, Black Canada, gender and sexuality studies. The compensation for the fellowship is competitive with other Canadian postdoctoral fellowships and includes funding for moving expenses and access to research funds.

The deadline for applications is April 1. Applicants should submit a letter that describes their teaching, research, and other relevant experience, their curriculum vitae, and arrange to have two letters of reference sent electronically to:
