• Create and develop design solutions aligned to graphic design best practices
• Experience mentoring more junior team members, developing work plans and schedules to estimate effort to price potential work, and to meet Project Deliverables of contracted work
• Working together with the Project Leads, solve planning, design and fabrication issues using architectural, wayfinding and accessibility principles alongside industry standards including applying traffic flow, orientation, sign hierarchy, messaging, typography, symbols, colour, signage design and environmental graphic design
• Assist with the signage and wayfinding reports and prepare client-facing presentation
• Assist or lead with sourcing or responding to new or repeat business opportunities. It would be great if you have had experience preparing proposals, RFIs, RFQs and be comfortable to speak with or present to external stakeholders
• Prepare drawings and documents including sign location plan, message schedule, fabrication, mounting details, material and finish specifications
• Assist with the site assessments, visitor needs assessments and visitor journey mapping exercises
• Actively take part in recommending best practices, methods, and even media best suited to produce desired design results and goals
• Ensure all designs follow project quality standards and are aligned to project delivery schedules

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5 or more years of experience in wayfinding design programs
• An excellent sense of Graphic Design and/or Wayfinding Design with a portfolio in typography, illustration, and layout. It would be great if you have experience working on transit station signage and wayfinding programs
• Experience solving design and planning issues using architectural and wayfinding principles and industry standards, including applying traffic flow, orientation, hierarchy, messaging, typography, symbols and colour that includes knowledge of accessibility guidelines, including the AODA and local codes
• Experience with preparing design drawings and documents, including sign location plan, message schedule, mounting details, material, and finish specifications
• Skilled in writing proposals, comfortable responding to RFIs, RFQs, etc.
• Membership with the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) (a nice to have)
• Strong software technical skills that include: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator essential), Revit, Microstation, 3D modeling, rendering, and animation skills
• Minimum Degree / Diploma in Graphic Design, Experiential design, and/or Industrial Design
• Comfortable in a nimble deadline-driven project environment

The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
