Under the supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator, the Instructor is responsible for delivering lessons and leading campers through a variety of activities such as crafts, sports, and games. Additional responsibilities include the completion of required administrative duties and maintaining smooth, cooperative, and professional relations with staff, campers, and parents. Camp Instructors will also work closely with Camp Leaders and Volunteers.This is a casual position working the equivalent of part-time hours. Scheduled shift times are anytime between 7:30am – 5:30pm for the following dates:January 31, 2025February 13-14, 2025February 28, 2025March 21, 2025March 24-28, 2025April 22-25, 2025May 16, 2025All MRU Camps staff are required to provide the following at their own cost prior to commencement:Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (valid within 1 year)Standard First Aid (valid within 2 years) and CPR Level C (valid within 1 year).ResponsibilitiesPlan, deliver and modify program lessons and activities.Ensure safety, well-being and enjoyment of campers from ages 6 – 12 years old.Make accommodations for campers with varying learning needs.Work collaboratively with co-Leaders and Instructors to deliver daily programs.Assist camp Leaders with recreational and classroom activities.Supervise and coordinate lunchtime, before and after care.Administrative tasks associated with the program including camper registration, incident reports, and attendance.Attend staff orientation and any necessary staff meetings.Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about their child’s experience at camp.QualificationsExperience working in a childcare/educational setting delivering lesson plans and curriculum (minimum 1 year).Previous experience working or volunteering in camp related or recreational activities is an asset.Previous experience with curriculum design and implementation is an asset.The ability to work well in a team and individually.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.Previous experience in or a passion for Early Childhood Development, Education, Health and Physical Education, and coaching/teaching.What We OfferTalented and committed employees are the driving force behind student success.
