About this team

The Network Engineering team is a group of highly experienced engineers responsible for the design, architecture, and evolution of the company’s global network. We support a large-scale retail environment spanning remote sites, WAN, backbone, and cloud infrastructure. The team focuses on building resilient, secure, and scalable networks while driving automation and standardization to improve reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Core responsibilities

As a Staff Platform Engineer, you will define platform architecture and drive technical direction for internal developer platforms and core infrastructure across the organization. You will architect company-wide Kubernetes and container orchestration strategies, design CI/CD and delivery systems at scale, and establish self-service platform capabilities that enable hundreds of engineers to deploy and operate services independently. You will establish observability platform architecture and comprehensive testing approaches including disaster recovery and chaos engineering programs, lead resolution of complex platform incidents, and drive platform reliability and performance at scale. You will make platform architecture decisions affecting multiple teams, influence organizational infrastructure investments, and mentor senior engineers on platform engineering excellence.

Select responsibilities include:

  • Define platform architecture and infrastructure standards for Kubernetes, container orchestration, cloud platforms, and compute, storage, and networking abstractions across the organization
  • Drive complex, multi-team initiatives with minimal supervision, making key technical decisions independently while navigating ambiguity and competing priorities
  • Establish CI/CD and delivery tooling strategies including standardized workflows, artifact management approaches, and deployment patterns
  • Design enterprise-scale self-service platform capabilities enabling hundreds of engineers to provision infrastructure and deploy services independently with appropriate guardrails
  • Establish observability platform architecture and standards including logging infrastructure, metrics collection frameworks, distributed tracing, alerting platforms, and operational dashboards
  • Establish testing and validation approaches including infrastructure testing frameworks, disaster recovery programs, chaos engineering practices, and resilience testing across all platforms
  • Lead resolution of complex platform incidents requiring deep technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and architectural changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • 9-12 years of experience defining platform strategy, establishing technical standards, and driving organization-wide infrastructure decisions, or equivalent
  • Track record of designing enterprise platform solutions and automation frameworks used across the organization; experience consulting on platform architecture decisions with architects on organizational standards
  • Proven experience defining infrastructure architecture and Kubernetes strategies for the organization; demonstrated ability to establish cloud platform standards and compute, storage, and networking patterns used company-wide
  • Experience architecting enterprise-scale self-service platforms enabling hundreds of engineers to operate independently; proven ability to define self-service strategies and developer experience standards for the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to establish communication practices for platform engineering across the organization; experience facilitating alignment between platform engineering and product engineering leadership
  • Proven track record of building organizational platform engineering capability by mentoring engineers at all levels
  • Software Engineering: Expert-level Python development skills; experience building modular, maintainable systems.
  • Cloud Architecture: Advanced knowledge of AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, etc.).

compensation and benefits package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $150,000-170,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
